Synopsis :An afternoon at the races—laced with champagne and women—is just another event for Ethan Cartwright, until the very ordinary Daisy Donahue catches his eye.
Daisy knows to keep her head down and to stay invisible amongst the throngs of designer-clad Australian socialites. But ruthless Ethan is intrigued by her and can't resist one passionate embrace!
Daisy is devastated to be fired for a kiss—she needs her job! That's where Ethan comes in. He has a new role in mind: housekeeper by day, bedmate by night.Don't take this synopsis word by word.
This was the third in the At his service series, but was actually the first book i read .Haven't actually read any of the previous books in the series. And you don't need to either.
I did not really liked the narrator choice. It was more of a aristocrat lady than simple, hard working woman. But all in all, that didn't bothered me that much.
From my past reads with Harlequin, i would say this one was a fresh breath of air:there wasn't a blackmail, the book fit perfectly with the reality, and the Characters weren't bad.
What bothered me ,even through it fitted the "reality" was Daisy's resentment towards Ethan(Rich people)because he saves more money for the rich people, having all things easy, when she was having the worst time of her life .
Main Characters & Their relationshipIn this book ,Daisy was the real woman of today's world (one that deals with today's economy),and Ethan was the intense, financial business man who had trust issues, thanks to all the woman he who used him.
The biggest obstacle their relationship encounters was the money. He had a lot, and she didn't.It did not matter to him that much(but he had trust issues involving woman and how they all want is his money). But to her,it was an important thing. She was a reality girl, and she wasn't the beautiful models he dated. She couldn't possibly hope to dream that they had a future. And his actions were sometimes just what she thinks. She was just his mistress.
I have to say...this one had a little more reality-substance to the drama!
But not everything is what it seems, now are they?
All in all, this was a good book, and it's perfect fit to reality made it even better.I would even recommend it to those who do not normally like the harlequin-type romance.
