Author Interview with Quinn Loftis + Giveaway

Hey! Welcome to The Daydreamer’s Book Obsession. Thanks for taking the time to visit!
Let’s Get started, shall we?

1.   How about we start off with telling the readers a little bit about yourself?
I’m 32 years old. I'm married to my best friend and we have an awesome 5 year old with an infectious smile. I have a wonderful Doberman Pinscher who is bossy. I love to read, write, crochet and sleep when I can.
2.   Who has inspired you as an author?
Patricia Briggs, Rachel Caine
3.   Tell us about Just one drop and where the idea came from.
Just One Drop is book 3 in my Grey Wolves Series. It is the continuation of the story about Jen, Jacque, and Sally three best friends who have found their lives have been destined to intertwine with the Canis lupis, were-wolves…specifically The Romanian Grey Wolves. This story is about Jen and Decebel. Jen who we all thought was human actually has a drop of Canis lupis blood in her making her compatible to be the mate to a Canis lupis…Decebel and her seem to be drawn together and yet there are not mating signs that indicate they are true mates. So JOD is the beginning of their story and of course the other Characters we have come to love are there as well, we still get to see them and how they are doing.
The idea…well it sort of wrote itself after I knew the general direction I wanted to head with it. Every day when I'd sit down a new idea pooped into my head so I went with it.
4.   What was your favorite part of the book  to write and why?
Probably the part where Jen flashes Decebel. I could just see the whole scenario in my mind. I could picture her face and attitude and the shock on Decebel's face. It was just a really fun scene to write.
5.   Do you have an exciting Just one drop teaser you'd like to share?
Sure:
Excerpt JOD Chapter 8
We want you to feel safe, Jen. No one will force you to do anything, and if you happen to meet your mate don't panic, okay?"
"Alpha," Jen smiled ruefully, "when have you ever known me to panic around yummy werewolves?"
A growl resonated through the room.
"Oh, stick a cork in it, B," Jen snarled at Decebel.
Vasile cocked his head to the side as he looked at Jen. "B?"
"Yeah. Ya know, for Beta. Although, I like it because I could also be calling him the technical term for a female dog and he wouldn't know it. So really, calling him B totally works to my advantage," Jen explained in all seriousness.
Everyone turned when a quick burst of laughter came from the right side of the room. When Sorin saw everyone turn their eyes on him, he quickly began coughing. Holding up his hands, he finally composed himself. "Pardon me, Alpha. I seemed to have swallowed wrong."
"You have to be careful while swallowing smart ass comments, Sorin," Jen teased. "They tend to have a choking effect."
Sorin winked at Jen, who refused to look at the ominous wolf in the room currently staring a hole in her head.
Jen looked back to Vasile. "Okay, so the moral of the story is find a mate, don't panic, and try to avoid any male pissing contests…literally." Jen winked at Decebel as she said this and he lifted his lip in a snarl.
"That sounds about right," Vasile agreed. "I think today you should just go about the rest of your day as usual. Try not to worry about The Gathering."
Jen snorted. "Yeah, I'll get right on that."

6.   Any upcoming projects? Something you're currently working on at the moment?
Book 4 Out Of The Dark will be released June 7, 2012!
7.   What made you want to be a writer?
I love to create worlds where anything is possible. It is the one thing in life besides playing soccer that came easy to me. Writing is something that I never had to work at. I've gotten better and I'm learning new stuff all the time, but it's not a struggle for me.
8.   What inspires you the most?
My husband and the way he loves me. I could not write about love without first knowing what true love is. In our 12 1/2 years of marriage he had demonstrated over and over what true, unconditional love really looks like.

9.   What do you enjoy doing when not reading or writing?
Crocheting, scrapbooking, spending time with my family and if I'm lucky sleeping.
10. As a writer , what is one of the toughest decisions you've had to make?
Quitting my job as a nurse and writing full time. Wondering if I can really support myself and help support my family with doing something I love to do.
11. While you were writing, did you ever feel as if you were one of the characters?
Definitely, the female characters in my books actually say a lot of the same things I say everyday…I know that's scary right J
12. What genre of books do you like to read? Do you limit yourself to only the genre that you write yourself?
YA Paranormal Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Scary stories. No I like to read a variety, but I definitely read mostly YA Paranormal Romance.
13. What would you rather do: go back in time or check out the future? Why?
Go back in time. I don't want to know the future. Where would the fun in that be. Not to mention I would be constantly trying to figure out ways to change something if I didn't like the way it turned out.
14. Is there anything else you'd like to say to the people reading this interview?
Thank you so very much for taking an interest in my books! The readers are what make my life possible and I am forever grateful.

About the book:

Jennifer Adams, best friend to Jacque Pierce and Sally Morgan, spicy, out spoken, a little crazy and human...or so she thought. Jen has just found out that human DNA is not the only thing that resides in her veins, she happens to share that little pesky werewolf gene, although it isn't more than just a drop. Now that she and her friends are living in Romania with Fane's pack, she is also oh so conveniently stuck with the object of her affection, the fur ball Decebel.
Drawn to each other by something they don't understand Jen finds herself frustrated by the lack of mating signs between her and said fur ball. Not only is she dealing with that not so un-frustrating problem, she now has been informed that because of that little drop of werewolf blood in her she is now required to attended a multi-pack gathering for un-mated wolves. This type of gathering hasn't taken place in over a century but with a shortage of females among the werewolf population the males are getting worried they won't ever find their true mates.
Meanwhile Decebel struggles with the emotions he is feeling towards Jen. He tries to keep his distance but there is just something about the mouthy blonde that keeps him coming back for more of her verbal abuse that he just can't seem to get enough of...go figure.

  4. I've wanted to read he series for a while now and haven't had the opportunity! It sounds like an amazing series and JOD sounds like it'd have some hilarous parts. I've read a couple of Quinn's interviews now and I have to say that rachel caine is also an inspiration for me. And although I write, I haven't written anything I feel in publishable just yet... I admire a lot of ya authors in their ability to create such realistic worlds!
